Embark on an unforgettable journey to Nepal, the enchanting “Kingdom of the Himalayas,” and immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring beauty of this Himalayan nation. Nestled between the majestic peaks of the Himalayas, Nepal offers a unique blend of natural wonders, cultural richness, and spiritual serenity.

Your trip begins in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital city of Nepal. Explore the bustling streets, visit ancient temples, and soak in the rich history and architecture of UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. Immerse yourself in the bustling markets, where vibrant colors, aromatic spices, and intricate handicrafts create a captivating sensory experience.

From Kathmandu, venture into the pristine wilderness of the Himalayas. Nepal is home to eight of the world’s ten highest peaks, including Mount Everest, and offers a plethora of trekking and mountaineering opportunities. Lace up your boots and embark on a trek of a lifetime, whether it’s the iconic Everest Base Camp trek, the picturesque Annapurna Circuit, or the serene Langtang Valley trek. Traverse through breathtaking landscapes, including lush forests, terraced fields, glacial rivers, and picturesque mountain villages, as you challenge yourself and witness the grandeur of the Himalayas up close.

While the Himalayas take center stage, Nepal is not just about mountains. Experience the tranquility of Pokhara, a picturesque city nestled beside Phewa Lake, surrounded by the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Take a boat ride on the lake, hike to the World Peace Pagoda for panoramic views, or simply relax and rejuvenate amidst the serene natural surroundings.

Discover Nepal’s cultural heritage in the historic cities of Patan and Bhaktapur, renowned for their ancient palaces, intricate architecture, and beautifully preserved traditional Newari culture. Explore the narrow streets, visit art galleries, and witness local artisans creating exquisite woodcarvings, metalwork, and pottery.

For a spiritual experience, venture to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Explore the sacred site, visit monasteries, and find solace in the peaceful ambiance. Engage in meditation or participate in a Buddhist teaching session to deepen your spiritual connection.

Nepalese cuisine is a treat for food enthusiasts. Sample authentic Nepali dishes such as dal bhat (lentil soup with rice), momo (dumplings), and various traditional curries. Savor the flavors and spices that are unique to the region and experience the warmth of Nepalese hospitality.

Your journey through Nepal is not only about exploration and adventure but also about making a positive impact. Engage in sustainable tourism practices, support local communities, and contribute to conservation efforts. Visit community-based projects, interact with local artisans, and choose eco-friendly accommodations to ensure a responsible and meaningful trip.

As you bid farewell to Nepal, you’ll carry the memories of its breathtaking landscapes, the hospitality of its people, and the spiritual essence that permeates the air. Nepal, the Kingdom of the Himalayas, offers an experience that goes beyond words—a journey that touches your soul and leaves you forever captivated by its beauty and charm.

TIPS

Tipping is still very present in Asia in general, and in Nepal in particular.

Linked to customer satisfaction, it is an integral part of the country’s culture:

Independent of salary level, tipping is seen by Nepalese as a sign of appreciation.

Its amount therefore depends on your appreciation of the service. Rendering and your generosity.

During your trip

This park, which borders India to the south, is a real wild paradise: unicorn rhinos, leopards, monkeys, bears, elephants, and above all the famous Bengal tiger inhabit these protected places. In the fall, just after the monsoon, the abundant water leads the animals to spread throughout the park, where the tall grass provides suitable hiding places.

Real perk: Kasara Resort****, with unique charm, located in the immediate vicinity of the park in a lush natural setting. Organisation Content

TRAVEL

  • Car, minibus or private bus for road travel within the country.
  • 6-seater Jeep with local comfort for transfers on the track. Managed by local companies, the Jeeps impose Spartan comfort. Most of the time, they have several seats at the front facing the road, then, at the rear, two seats parallel to the road, which face each other.
  • Domestic flights mainly operated by Yeti Airlines and Tara Airlines.

NB: Domestic flights in Nepal are subject to weather conditions, they can be postponed and / or canceled. In the event of a problem, we will do our best to preserve the initial program. However, the stages of the trek can be adapted and, very rarely, the international flights shifted. In this case, FNV will reorganize your air transport. However, participants cannot claim any compensation and any extra cost will be on charge of the customer.

ACCOMMODATION

  • In Kathmandu: accommodation in a family hotel (local standard), double room basis.
  • During the trek: accommodation in a lodge. Halfway between refuges and lodgings, the lodges of the Annapurnas tour offer a very variable comfort depending on the stages. However, ascending to the Manang Valley, they become warmer. Due to isolation and lack of fuel, lodge rooms are not heated. For your comfort, it is essential to provide a good sleeping bag.

Separate toilets or in the lodge. In all the lodges, the sanitary facilities remain the most rustic part! Paid showers, but often lukewarm, as they are heated only by solar energy. Provide light sandals, hygiene being… local.

Heating water for showers requires a lot of energy. Above 3000 meters in altitude, you can order basins of hot water, which consume less energy, which will probably also prevent you from catching a cold!

The lodges have electricity: possibility of charging the batteries (paying, but only a few rupees) and, sometimes, Wi-Fi connection with low speed (paying).

Lodge owners refuse advance reservations for individual rooms.

MEALS

  • At noon, picnic in the field or meal taken in the lodge. Attention! It is a real pause, relatively long. Our porters take advantage of this stopover to feed themselves copiously. Their traditional dal-bhat, made from rice and lentils, is the main meal of their day. The pace of walking therefore does not correspond to that generally adopted in hiking, where the midday stop is short. Take the opportunity to rest or take a walk.
  • Dinner and breakfast taken in the lodge. We strive to vary the meals (group menus) between each lodge. However, Hindus and Buddhists are mostly vegetarians. We therefore eat little meat or fish. The dishes are based on pasta, rice, potatoes, lentils, etc.
  • During the trek, additional energy food is provided. Purchased locally, they offer a more limited choice than in France. You can, if you wish, bring some complementary cereal bars adapted to your taste. Drinks: during the trek, tea is served with meals. Two cups of tea are included per meal. Additional cups of tea and other drinks, including mineral water, remain the responsibility of the participants. You can fill your water bottles in the lodges, but it is essential to treat it with purifying tablets. Avoid buying plastic bottles, which must then be recycled. You can buy already treated water in the villages (safe drinking water), which limits the bottle problem.

BAGGAGE TRANSPORT

Each participant travels on foot with a light backpack, carrying only their personal belongings necessary for the day (water bottle, camera, protective clothing, etc.). The rest of the equipment is carried by the porters to the next accommodation.

We ask everyone to have only one bag (trekking bag that will be carried) of 13 kilos maximum. Possibility of leaving things at the hotel in Kathmandu and picking them up when you return from trekking.

YOUR INSURANCE AND ASSISTANCE

An adventure circuit includes risks that should be mitigated by being well insured. The assistance essentially covers search and rescue costs, repatriation and medical costs. It intervenes as soon as a medical report makes it possible to decide on repatriation. Beforehand, in regions far from medical infrastructures and difficult to access, you must accept the organization of first aid by local means (carriers, horses, 4X4, etc.). It compensates the loss or theft of luggage. The insurance protects against the financial risk of cancellation (Visa cards do not offer a cancellation guarantee).

ECO-FRIENDLY TOURISM
