E-Visas: Online Efficiency
Definitely effective, especially in high season!
It is now possible to apply for a visa in advance online (for arrival at Kathmandu – Tribhuvan Airport – only).

We strongly recommend that you apply for an e-visa before departure.
This will considerably reduce the waiting time on arrival at the airport.
How to proceed before departure :
Travellers must complete an online form at:
http://online.nepalimmigration.gov.np/tourist-visa
A file with a barcode is then generated, which must be printed.
As this document is only valid for a fortnight, the online application should only be completed a maximum of 14 days before departure.
If you have already travelled to Nepal, you must also provide a copy of your previous Nepalese visa. Payment is made on the spot when the visa is issued. This procedure does not entail any change in price.

You can submit a full visa application form online to the Nepal Immigration Authority at your first attempt!

To do this, here are a few things you need to prepare:
Keep your valid passport (at least 6 months after your planned departure date from Nepal) handy.
Prepare a recent digital photo (size: 4x4cm) in your removable camera to upload your photo for the application.
Gather a detailed permanent residence address and a detailed address in Nepal beforehand. You must provide your landline and mobile phone numbers. You must also provide your email address.
The submitted application will remain in the system for 15 days. After 15 days, the application will be automatically deleted from the system. Once the application has been successfully submitted, a receipt will immediately be sent to your e-mail address.
How to proceed on arrival:
Print out the receipt or save it on your mobile phone and keep it with you, as you will need to present it to the immigration authorities. For your convenience, the deadline for contacting the immigration authority will be mentioned on the receipt. The receipt will also mention the documents you need to produce to the immigration authority.
On arrival:
Go directly to the visa payment counter with your passport, the receipt and the cash amount of the visa requested, in order to pay your fees and have the sesame affixed to you. An ATM for withdrawing cash is available, but there is only one, so it can be very busy!
Print out the receipt with the barcode, and once at Kathmandu airport, present it at the visa payment counter.
This system only works at Kathmandu airport, not at land borders.
Please note that the following nationalities cannot obtain driving licences.
The following nationalities cannot obtain a visa on arrival:
AFG, IRQ, CMR, GHA, SOM, SWZ, PSE, ZWE, NGA, ETH and LBR.

At the time of your trip, if your return home is conditional on the presentation of a negative virological screening test result at Covid-19 (PCR or antigenic test), we will organise with our local teams these samples to be taken in testing centres, but the cost of this test will be at your expense (between €15 and €30 depending on the centre).
